I want to take this opportunity to thank you for considering my candidacy for a consulting support position for your organization. As you are aware, I spent three and a half years with California Department of Veterans Affairs as Clinical Information Systems Analyst supporting the adoption of Hospital Information Systems in the Veterans homes (Facilities designed for geriatrics Veterans and those with chronic conditions).
In this role, I was active in the planning, analyzing, designing and implementation of the clinical systems throughout the Veterans homes. Because the Veterans collectively have a major influence in the political arena around the country, the clinical staffs were under pressure to developed personalized care and focused on efficiency and the effective management of chronic care conditions.
As a result of this, I was able to fine tune my skill set in systems development life cycle and working with stakeholders to ensure that their specification requirements were incorporated into the systems design. These multiple facilities that spread around the state of California were linked by technology to facilitate seamless flow of information for the purpose of encouraging the continuity of care.
This should give you some understanding that my knowledge acquisition in the field of information technology covers all functional requirements in practice and theory of health informatics. The adoption of the California Veteran Homes information systems is currently a national show case partly due to my participation in the design and implementation of the system. Currently, I am a post graduate student in health informatics program at the University of California; Davis to keep pace with what is current in the field.
I have actively participated in system development and successful implementation of health information systems that provided secured, real time access to patient health record information, captures, manages episodic and longitudinal health information. In this role, I also functioned as clinician’s primary information resource specialist, assisted them in evidenced based, continuous quality improvement and how to capture reimbursement and evidenced based research.
Having highlighted my experience in this field, it will be an honor to assist your organization in migrating from a paper based system to a fully functioning electronic health system by collaboratively engaging your organization stakeholders in the design and successful implementation.
